Plumas County tourism group seeks renewal actions and asks county to update TOT/Airbnb outreach

Tourism representatives asked the county to update the tax collector and county websites with information about TOT (transient occupancy tax) certificates and requested that a vendor letter to Airbnb hosts be supported. They also requested a limited nondisclosure agreement (NDA) so a consultant (Civitas) could count renewal petitions and protect sensitive TOT return data.
County staff and board members discussed the scope of county involvement, data security for TOT return information, and the fact that an additional 2% TOT dedicated to the tourism district differs from the 9% general TOT that flows to the general fund. County counsel and staff agreed to convene a working meeting with two supervisors, counsel and Civitas to address the critical items the tourism group flagged, including the NDA to allow petition counting and any necessary updates to county webpages.
The board did not adopt a final decision on any ordinance or funding change at the meeting; staff were asked to coordinate the technical steps (website updates, potential NDA language and timing) and report back.
