ALUC plans amendment consultant selected; commission elects Michael Geller interim vice chair

At the Feb. 13 meeting the Riverside County Airport Land Use Commission approved moving forward with an amendment to the 2014 March Air Reserve Base Inland Port Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan and endorsed use of Mead & Hunt as the sole‑source consultant under an existing standby contract.
Simon Hausman told the commission that, after negotiations with Mead & Hunt and consultations with the county contracting office, the ALUC can proceed under the consultant’s current standby contract rather than issuing a separate procurement. Hausman said the next step is outreach to surrounding communities to establish memorandums of understanding to share the cost of the update; his time estimate for the work is about 12 months starting this month.
In administrative business, Paul Ruhl reported the director found three non‑legislative cases consistent during the period Dec. 16, 2024–Jan. 15, 2025. The commission also held nominations for an interim vice chair and elected Michael Geller by voice vote.
Hausman said staff will follow up with jurisdictions and airport managers to finalize MOU participation and cost‑sharing arrangements; the commission did not vote on a separate contract because the work will be performed under an existing agreement with Mead & Hunt.
