Longmont pastor reports antisemitic vandalism; callers urge council condemnation

During first-call public comment on Feb. 11, Mark Spencer, senior pastor at Christ Church International, said his church was vandalized with anti‑Semitic graffiti and damaged bricks on Feb. 2 and urged the City Council to issue a proclamation condemning such behavior.
"It was clearly intended to be threatening and intimidating," Spencer said, describing graffiti on doors, a window and the sidewalk near the church. He asked the council to "pass a proclamation denouncing all such antisemitic behavior in general and here in Longmont specifically."
Multiple council members later addressed the incident during mayor-and-council comments and staff said graffiti cleanup crews responded within a day or so. Councilor Christ urged residents to use city cleanup resources and called for civility in public discourse.
No formal proclamation on antisemitic acts was recorded during the Feb. 11 meeting in the minutes; the council did approve a separate FBLA proclamation earlier in the session.
The city manager and staff noted they were aware of cleanup activity and that appropriate city services were deployed following the report.
