City unveils visitor center plan and ARPA-funded promotional video; announces restaurant week

City staff presented an update on the visitor center project and an ARPA-funded promotional video at the Aug. 26 Franklin City Council meeting.
Interim City Manager Bertram said ARPA funds received in 2021 are being used to update the visitor center with interpretive panels and displays highlighting Franklin's history and local events. Staff showed a layout for the depot space and said they are preparing loan and donation agreements with legal to secure artifacts.
The presentation included a short promotional video showcasing Franklin's outdoor assets and businesses; staff said the video will be aired on the city channel and used by regional economic development partners. As part of the tourism/economic push, staff announced the first annual 'Flavors of Franklin' restaurant week running Sept. 17'22, with participating restaurants and a raffle drawing for winners to be announced Sept. 11.
Staff said they hope to have the visitor center exhibit completed by the end of the year and invited residents to loan or donate memorabilia under legal agreements.
