Daryl Revere, representing the Pier 19 developer, said the change would allow construction of a second home in what the developer estimated would be about a $10 million completed project.
"Simply what we're asking for is to change the variance from 8 foot to 5 foot," Revere said, adding the project owners would maintain 5 feet on each side so the 10‑foot building separation required by the ordinance remains. The jury discussed fire‑code spacing and confirmed the change keeps the minimum separation.
A juror moved to approve the variance and the motion was seconded; the record shows unanimous "Aye" votes and the motion carried.
Outcome: the variance was approved and the developer indicated construction will proceed.
