Daly City outlines aquatics schedules, fees and winter changes for pools and lessons

Daly City aquatics staff presented an overview of swim programming, schedules and fees to the commission on Nov. 26, detailing offerings at the pool associated with Westmore High School and additional sites including the War Memorial Community Center.

Bridal, identified in the transcript as a recreation coordinator, described summer offerings — aqua fit, lap swim, aqua camp, lifeguard courses, swim lessons, pool parties and recreation swim — and said the department is planning to increase capacity in certain programs because of demand.

"Residents are $6 and nonresidents are $7.50," Bridal said when discussing aquafit and some recreation fees, and the presenter set lesson pricing at $80 for residents and $100 for nonresidents for regular classes; toddler classes were listed at $88/$110. The presentation included instructor‑to‑student ratios (1:4 for upper classes, 1:6 for lower classes), swim lesson times, lap swim windows and weekend recreation swim windows with a stated capacity of up to 75 participants.

Presenter details included single‑swimmer lanes and multi‑swimmer lanes with different fees, age rules (minors must be accompanied by a parent for certain sessions), and pool‑party slots on Saturdays for up to 50 participants. For winter, staff announced schedule adjustments including aquafit moving to Saturdays 8–9 a.m. and modified lesson and lap swim time slots. Staff did not request formal action from the commission during the presentation and closed after a brief question period.
