At the Sept. 24 Recreation Commission meeting a resident, identified as Juno, used the public comment period to say Daly City lacks adequate volleyball court reservations after changes at War Memorial and that only Bayshore currently offers regular reservations. "There hasn't been enough volleyball court reservations available for people of Daly City to play volleyball," Juno told commissioners.
Staff acknowledged the concern. Sports Programs Coordinator Jeanette Ganais responded that volleyball programs remain in demand and described recent summer volleyball sessions and planned clinics. "Volleyball was big," she said, and staff noted they are "planning on having a volleyball league in 2025" to create more regular opportunities.
Procedural motions during the meeting included approval of the evening's agenda and approval of the prior meeting's minutes; both motions received aye votes called by the chair (no roll-call breakdown was recorded in the transcript). A motion to adjourn carried at the meeting's close and the commission set its next meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
No formal policy actions or funding decisions were taken in response to public comment during this meeting; commissioners asked staff to continue monitoring participation and program demand.
