Daly City’s July 22 meeting included a ceremonial presentation welcoming delegations from Japan and the Philippines and marking a new sister‑city relationship. The council presented a Key to the City to the visiting mayor from Izumazano/Izumi Sano and recognized consular representatives from Japan and the Philippines who attended the chamber event.
The visiting mayor told the council he was honored by the reception and described the key as a symbol of open relations and opportunity for future exchanges. The mayor and council acknowledged city staff, the Arts & Culture Commission and volunteers who organized the day’s cultural programs and an art exhibit drawn from the sister city.
Council members invited the public to join a short reception with cake and coffee after the ceremony and thanked staff for months of planning. The ceremonial portion concluded with a brief recess and the council returned to routine business.
