Daly City Council unanimously approved July 22 an appropriation of $15,000 from the Bayshore redevelopment RDA fund balance to rehabilitate a vacant unit and make property improvements at the city‑owned five‑unit building at 260 Abbot.
Staff said the building, acquired in February 2007 by the redevelopment agency, generates rental income and needs laundry facilities at the garage level and building‑wide internet service to support occupancy of a unit recently vacated after about 25 years of continuous tenancy. The staff presentation described the expense as approximately $15,000 and said funds are available in the designated fund balance.
During council discussion a member confirmed the units are 100 percent low‑income and praised the multi‑pronged approach the city takes to create and sustain affordable housing. The mayor moved to approve the appropriation; the council then voted by roll call with all members recorded voting aye.
