Daly City on June 24 accepted and appropriated a $146,620 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program to purchase electric vehicles and one electric lawn mower for the Vehicle Fund.
Director Chu explained the EECBG program assists local governments with strategies to reduce energy use, cut fossil-fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency; Daly City Public Works applied for and was awarded the grant. Mayor Manalo and Vice Mayor Das Magua thanked staff for pursuing federal grant opportunities that help the city transition vehicle fleets and equipment away from fossil fuels.
Council approved the appropriation by unanimous roll call. Staff said they are available to answer follow-up questions and will coordinate procurement under applicable city purchasing rules.
