Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic reports 4,000 patients served; plans school visits and single‑visit crowns

Sherry Landry and other foundation representatives said the clinic served more than 4,000 patients in the past 12 months, of whom 1,332 were Orange County residents. They said roughly 90% of the clinic’s patients are low-income, covered by Medicaid or qualifying for reduced rates. The clinic will provide school‑based exams, cleanings, fluoride and sealants at eight Orange schools and will coordinate with school nurses to identify children most in need of services.
Landry described a new digital scanner and 3D printer purchased with support from the Delta Dental Foundation of Virginia that allow the clinic to deliver crowns in a single visit, reducing barriers for patients with limited work flexibility or transportation. She highlighted free urgent care and other sliding-scale services that aim to connect families to ongoing oral care.
Board members thanked the presenters and noted the clinic’s donation of dental kits for the county’s holiday toy program.
