- Appropriation ordinance: The commission approved appropriation ordinance No. 2574‑2024A by voice vote.
- Rezoning: Commissioners adopted ordinance No. 2999‑2024 to rezone approximately 3.91 acres at 1404 W. Mary Street from I‑2 (Medium Industrial) to C‑2 (General Commercial) to permit development of an event venue. Staff said the proposed use conforms to the comprehensive plan and that the Planning Commission recommended approval on Oct. 17, 2024.
- Code enforcement actions: The commission set a public hearing for Jan. 7, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. (resolution No. 3137) concerning an unsafe/dangerous structure at 2808 North Taylor Avenue and approved an environmental nuisance abatement resolution (No. 3138) to abate conditions at 1803 Julie Street. Staff said multiple inspections, write notices and fire damage occurred in the Taylor Avenue case and that abatement costs for the Julie Street nuisance will be charged to the parcel.
- Budget hearing notice: The commission authorized publication of a notice of budget hearing for amendments to the 2024 budget, setting the hearing for Dec. 3, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
- RFP and appointment for zoo projects: The commission approved release of an RFP to design three projects at Lee Richardson Zoo (bird holding/viewing building, Seventh Street drive‑in entrance, wild horse and camel holding barns) and appointed Commissioner Landgraf to the selection committee.
- Public Safety Advisory Board appointment: The commission appointed Mark Sheracruz to fill the Asian American vacancy on the Public Safety Advisory Board, term expiring Dec. 2027.
- RAISE grant task order: For a proposed pedestrian bridge at or near Spruce Street and the bypass, the commission authorized a modified task order not to exceed $30,000 and directed staff to pursue the more traditional planning‑first process rather than the expedited planning+construction application route. Staff said the expedited approach would have required two task orders totaling $80,626 for design and NEPA work.
