Randolph County Board recognizes educators, principals and dozens of students and staff

At its regular meeting the Randolph County Board of Education recognized district educators, principals, students and staff for the 2024–25 school year.
Amber Ward (listed in the transcript as the meeting’s awards presenter) introduced the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence award for Denise Allen and presented a Principal of the Year certificate to Dr. Susan Chapel, principal of Eastern Randolph High School. Ward said the awards recognize educators who use innovative instruction and support students with disabilities and noted the principal award was selected by peer principals.
The board also presented STAR 3 student awards for October — recognizing students who are respectful and responsible — naming recipients from more than a dozen schools, and handed out STAR employee awards across the district (one or two employees per school during fall board meetings). Ward thanked community sponsors, including Vicky Gallimore of RE/MAX Central Realty, which is purchasing the plaques for STAR employee recipients.
The recognitions portion included brief profiles of the honorees’ work, the schools they represent, and invited recipients and families to come forward for photos.
The board’s recognitions underscored district emphasis on student leadership, teacher innovation and staff contributions across custodial, instructional and support roles.
