Randolph County board honors dozens of students and staff in November recognitions

The Randolph County School System board spent the opening portion of its monthly meeting recognizing students and staff from across the district. Superintendent Dr. Gannon opened the program and Sandra Ward presented awards that included an outstanding elementary math teacher, two Piedmont Triad Education Consortium (P TECH) Signature Schools and a long list of student and staff honorees.

The math award, coordinated by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, singled out a Ramsour Elementary teacher identified in the transcript as "Miss Ivack" as the system's outstanding elementary math teacher. Ward invited the honoree forward to receive a system certificate, and principals and staff in the audience were recognized for their support of student achievement.

Ward also announced two P TECH Signature Schools for the 2024–25 year and called school representatives forward to receive certificates. The Star 3 student program — which recognizes students who are respectful, responsible and doing the right thing — highlighted pupils from Coleridge Elementary, Eastern Randolph High, Farmer Elementary, Seagrove Elementary and numerous other schools. The board called students' names and asked family members and supporters to stand for photos.

The board then presented Star Employee awards for November, with sponsor Vicki Gallimore of REMAX Central Realty acknowledged for purchasing plaques. Staff honored included classroom teachers, media specialists, lead teachers and long-serving school employees noted for service and dedication.

There were no votes tied to the recognitions; the presentations concluded before the meeting moved to routine business and informational reports.
