Clearlake council extends temporary road closures, continues Burns Valley appeal to June 7

The Clearlake City Council on June 1 adopted Resolution 2023-25 to extend temporary road closures in parts of the city to curb illegal dumping. Director Labo told the council staff purchased K-rail and gates and that the closures had been effective; the staff presentation noted the California Vehicle Code requires a public hearing every 18 months to extend such closures. The motion to adopt the resolution passed unanimously.
The council also considered an appeal (APCC 2023-1) filed by the Koi Nation of Northern California concerning Planning Commission approval of the Burns Valley development project. At the appellant’s request for a religious accommodation, the council unanimously continued the public hearing to June 7 at 3:00 p.m. in council chambers.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda and the agenda itself by unanimous voice votes. No formal ordinance adoptions or contract terminations were reported in the meeting minutes for June 1.
The council agreed to additional follow-up on other items discussed at the meeting, including potential future grant appeals and community projects. The meeting was adjourned after a brief consideration of closed session, which was canceled for the night.
