Clearlake swears in Sgt. Trevor Franklin; introduces new school resource officer

At its Aug. 17 meeting the Clearlake City Council and police department held a ceremonial swearing-in and introductions for recently hired and promoted staff. Trevor Franklin was formally sworn into his role as a sergeant, repeating the oath of office before council and attending staff.
Police staff also introduced Sergeant Delvis Cook (moving into a detective-sergeant role), Officer Nathan Williams (summer community engagement officer) and Officer Christopher Perry, who was presented as the department’s new school resource officer (SRO). The police chief noted that the SRO position was re-established this year after the city entered into a memorandum of understanding with the school district to fund the role.
The chief said the SRO will focus on school safety, building relationships with students and providing education on drug-prevention and bullying. The department described the SRO as funded by, and coordinated with, the school district rather than a new council-funded ongoing program.
