Residents urge support for fifth-grade scholarships, report nearby fires and press for road-safety fixes

She urged civic and service groups to consider supporting the program to help break cycles of poverty and encourage college attendance.
Neighborhood resident Ron Bolby recounted three fires adjacent to his Liddell Avenue property (two vehicle fires and a large structure fire at 3883 Liddell on Nov. 11). He praised emergency responders for quick action, said his property lost a fence and some heat-damaged items, and requested guidance on who is responsible for removing debris and unsafe materials from the burned neighboring lot.
Patty Duke raised safety concerns about an S-curve on Old Highway 53 and nearby unmarked lanes where pedestrians and drivers share limited roadway; she asked the city to consider pedestrian signage, lane markings or barriers to reduce risk.
City staff directed residents to speak with an on-site lieutenant for immediate follow-up information on the fires and noted Zoom-submitted comments opposing two upcoming agenda items had been received by the clerk.
