Council begins second hearing on administrative cleanup to municipal code water connections

City staff introduced a routine, administrative update to the municipal code covering water connections at the Jan. 23 meeting.
Matt (S18) explained the item is the first of two public hearings to formally amend code language to separate residential and nonresidential connection sections, add explicit entries for 5/8", 3/4" and 1" meters on the nonresidential fee schedule, and create a clearer nonresidential table consistent with PCWA's administrative manual. Environmental Services Manager Chris Nelson (S7) said the item is clerical and no fee changes are being proposed.
No members of the public spoke for the item; the public hearing was closed and council moved to approve the administrative cleanup at the first hearing stage. Staff noted the formal process requires two hearings prior to final adoption.
The council vote recorded unanimous support for moving the item forward to the next hearing step.
