Framingham school committee approves nondiscrimination and harassment policy updates, accepts gifts and routine warrants

The Framingham School Committee approved a slate of policy updates and routine financial items at its meeting.
Policy Chair Jen Moshe presented second readings for revisions to Policy AC (nondiscrimination), Policy ACAB (harassment grievance procedures/Title IX-related language) and related procedural regulations. Moshe said the changes remove procedural detail from the policy manual and will place regulations and step-by-step grievance procedures on the Framingham Public Schools website as editable, hyperlinked documents. "We're replacing the current policy with the Mass Association of School Committee (MASC) policy with some minor edits," Moshe said.
The committee moved and seconded the second readings and approved them by roll-call vote.
On finance, Mr. LaBarge reported warrants totaling $1,566,162.08 and a payroll total of $5,324,189.63 (reported for Oct. 14). Executive Director Lincoln Lynch updated capital items, saying staff are pursuing additional MSBA funding and a cell/wireless capital request to the city council and expect to present those requests on Oct. 29. He reported operating-year expenditures of "just under $28,500,000," $21,300,000 in encumbrances and a fund spend rate of 28.84%.
The committee also voted to accept a gift to cover the Arete Labs registration fee for the high school math team; the motion passed by roll call. The committee then voted to adjourn; the meeting ended at 7:58 p.m. The chair announced the next meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
