Board approves planning-grant request for Cabin Ford, Marion and Tianna Way

Supervisor McCormick moved the board to submit a planning-grant request through the Northern Neck Planning District Commission to study roadway improvements on Cabin Ford Road, Marion Way and Tianna Way; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
McCormick told the board he had discussed the project at a Northern Neck Planning District Commission meeting and said the planning grant—if awarded (up to $50,000)—would fund design and neighborhood planning and could then lead to a Community Development Block Grant application after plans are completed. He said the work could include road rehabilitation, drainage improvements and property rehabilitation similar to an earlier community development block grant that rehabilitated houses and drainage on Jerusalem Church Road.
The board voted in favor. Supervisors present voiced support for starting with a planning grant while acknowledging the multi-year timeline such work entails. Staff said McCormick will follow up and report progress to the board as plans move forward.
