Board reviews facility repairs and extends insurance broker contract for another year

Dougherty County — At the Dec. 9 work session, staff presented two administrative items: a professional services quote from Merrick Building Construction for waterproofing and maintenance work at the Dougherty Government Center and an amendment to extend the county's broker services agreement with Alliant Insurance Services Inc.
Facilities staff asked the commission to accept a $72,000 professional services quote from Merrick Building Construction to cover waterproofing and related exterior maintenance at the government center. Staff noted the building is jointly occupied by Dougherty County and the City of Albany; the county manages the facility and will reconcile costs with the city upon completion. "After we do the work we will go back and reconcile with the city what the costs were to complete the project," staff said.
Staff also asked the commission to accept Amendment No. 1 to the Alliant Insurance broker agreement, extending the contract through Dec. 31, 2025 at the same annual fee of $69,750. Risk management staff said Alliant will produce a summary of how the county's risk management program works and will present findings to the finance committee.
Both items were presented as administrative recommendations; the work session did not record formal roll‑call votes on these motions and staff said additional committee review could follow.
