San Carlos board authorizes Measure H grant filings, reconstitutes oversight committee

At its Feb. 6 meeting the San Carlos School District Board approved a set of Measure H‑related resolutions to position the district for potential state facility funding. Staff explained that because state applications occur after Oct. 31, the district must acknowledge an approved facilities master plan to be eligible.
Staff recommended three related approvals: naming a district representative to pursue grant opportunities, authorizing applications for State Allocation Board administered programs, and permitting applications for facility hardship and seismic mitigation programs. The board voted to approve the measures; the items were announced as passing unanimously.
On funding and timing, staff said the district has participated in state facility programs since 1999 and has received roughly $11.5 million to date. They cautioned that eligibility and award amounts for the current cycle are not yet known and that it can take three to four years before awards are announced; the district will not "pre‑spend" Measure H funds but would allocate additional awards to items in the facilities master plan if funded.
The board also moved forward on Measure H oversight: after accepting a resignation, trustees approved the appointment of a new oversight committee member (applicant name listed as "Nita" in materials) and said the committee will meet Feb. 12 to begin its work.
Next steps: staff will continue to coordinate with state partners and monitor applications. The steering committee will review potential projects and advise on matching and priorities if additional state funds are awarded.
