Town staff told the board June 5 that several development projects are advancing toward public review and that the town will follow notice procedures beyond minimum state requirements.
The Knutson property has received PUD approval and will next go to the planning commission for concept, preliminary and final reviews; staff said all planning hearings will be open to the public, advertised in the newspaper, mailed to owners within 500 linear feet and posted on the property. The administrator emphasized the town is doing outreach beyond what state law requires.
A new developer recently bought the vacant field behind Maple Leaf/Maple View Apartments (referred to as Maple Heights) and is reworking previous plans; staff said the revisions should improve emergency access, widen roads to town standards, include stormwater discussions and add a monument sign at the entrance.
Stevens Preserve has been in active discussions since mid‑2023; the administrator told the board the town now expects to vet developer plans with staff and engineers for several months before a formal planning commission submittal to ensure community concerns are addressed early in the process.
On the Ford property, the administrator said he had last spoken with the owner about four months earlier; no concept drawings had been submitted and the timeline for a formal application was uncertain.
The administrator stressed that landowners retain development rights but that the town has adopted more rigorous pre‑application review procedures to protect community interests.
