Town Administrator Calvin A. Boddenberger Jr. told commissioners the program is intended to provide funding for small communities that do not have the financial resources for a full-time town manager and can be used to share professional services such as grant writing. "In this particular case, the towns of Perryville and Rising Sun would like to enter into a joint program to receive funding for a circuit rider, someone who would work for both towns," he said during the meeting.
The resolution, as read at the meeting, notes the department anticipates funds for fiscal year 2023 and cites an application submittal date the administrator listed for June 14, 2022. Commissioners moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by voice vote.
By joining Perryville, Rising Sun is seeking to expand its administrative capacity without hiring a full-time town manager, according to the resolution text read at the meeting. The town will forward a signed copy of the resolution to the state department and to Perryville after adoption.
