Rising Sun approves two new stop signs on Wilson Avenue to slow traffic near park

Rising Sun commissioners on Sept. 14 approved Resolution 20 21 10 to install two additional stop signs at the intersection of Wilson Avenue with Douglas Court and Cherry Street, converting the location into a four-way stop for traffic along Wilson.
Town Administrator (unnamed) told the board that KCI Technologies conducted field surveys and recommended a four-way stop consistent with recognized standards to slow traffic toward Veterans Memorial Park. The administrator noted the installation plan includes stop bars and pavement markings; commissioners confirmed double-yellow centerline striping and stop bars will also be applied consistent with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
A resident asked whether a "stop ahead" sign should also be placed at Kirk's Road and Wilson Avenue; the board reviewed the diagram and confirmed that marking appears on the plan. KCI representatives Ryan Flickinger and Scott Koenig were on the meeting line to answer questions about the schematic.
The board moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by voice vote. No roll-call totals were read into the record.
The measure directs the town to proceed with installation and pavement markings per the engineer's recommendation; staff will coordinate placement and contractor scheduling.
