Superintendent updates: newsletter, staff development, homecoming and staffing at RSU 09

Speaker 3 said the newsletter has been restarted and that the superintendent27s office will host an open day; they also emphasized staff neutrality on political matters: "our job as educators is to give students, an age appropriate, opportunities to be able to discuss issues...but not to share our own opinions on those as staff," Speaker 3 said. When Speaker 4 asked if town offices receive the newsletter, Speaker 3 said they will check distribution and ensure town offices receive it.
Monique (Speaker 5) described an upcoming in-school professional development day during which students will have the day off and staff across the district will receive differentiated training, including for bus drivers, custodians, ed techs and administrative assistants.
Speaker 3 also recapped homecoming events and acknowledged staff who work in the district27s day treatment programs for their work supporting students with complex needs. Regarding staffing, Speaker 4 asked about replacing an open position; Speaker 3 said the district has advertised the special-education-related role and is looking beyond the district to fill it, with an expected update in the coming weeks.
The meeting adjourned without objection after the superintendent27s report and subsequent business.
