During the public-comment portion of the council meeting, resident and volunteer Dee Grice described frequent visits to the Cliff Walk and highlighted a specific infrastructure shortfall: the site has only two public restrooms despite seeing '5, 6, 7000 a day' at peak times. Grice said the Cliff Walk Commission has tried to find partners and locations for additional restrooms without success, and urged the council to provide 'additional horsepower' and a whole-government approach to install more facilities.
Councilors thanked Grice for the information and requested staff to note the concern for future infrastructure planning and visitor services discussions. The comment was recorded as part of the evening's public forum.
Next steps: councilors suggested the comment be referred to the appropriate city departments for evaluation of potential sites, costs and partnerships for additional restroom facilities on the Cliff Walk.
