Paul Hart, a former member and chair of the Newport Waterfront Commission, spoke in support of the dedication, calling the naming "an honorable thing to do" in recognition of Schicki’s work on the waterfront. The council voted in favor of the resolution and the motion passed.
What happens next: a copy of the resolution will be presented to family as called for in the resolution, and the Stone Pier will henceforth be known in the city records and signage as the Kevin N. Schicki Stone Pier Dinghy Dock.
