Council approves restaurant ownership transfer, entertainment license and routine renewals

The Newport City Council, acting as the Board of License Commissioners, approved several business-license matters: transfer of ownership of the Red Parrot restaurant to 348 Thames Opco LLC; a new Class A entertainment license for the Red Parrot permitting daily entertainment; a Class F daily liquor license event for Boku Cafe LLC with its date amended from Dec. 6, 2024 to Jan. 25, 2025; and annual victualling (liquor and non-liquor) license renewals for the 2024–25 season. The council also approved a pedicab business license renewal for John Litherland (Cap and John's Pedicabs, LLC).
Public hearings were opened and closed for the Red Parrot items with no abutter opposition noted. Conditions included payment of bills of indebtedness where applicable. All motions were carried by voice vote.
