MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Middletown Township supervisors voted April 6 to contract with a vendor for a long‑planned modernization of the municipal meeting room dais and technology.
A staff presenter described the project as a multi‑year effort included in the 2020 budget to modernize the dais and meeting room for hybrid and virtual meetings. The board reviewed renderings and the proposal to expand the dais, add custom curved desks for five or seven positions, two desks on the stage for staff and a lectern with integrated technology.
The township proposed a contract with Paul Downs Cabinet Makers for $51,825 to build the custom furnishings. The project budgeted $100,000 includes in‑house work and separate contracts for technology and carpeting. A motion to authorize the contract passed on a voice vote; multiple supervisors answered "aye."
Township staff said the meeting room would be closed after the June board meeting for construction with the goal of returning by August or September for regular meetings.
Next step: staff will finalize contracts for furnishings and coordinate scheduling for installation and technology integration.
