Resident urges traffic study, warns of safety risks for Bridgepoint residents

During the public-comment portion of the Dec. 17 meeting, resident Devin Rocle urged the Planning and Zoning Board to consider traffic safety on Tom Quarry and in the Bridgepoint subdivision.
"Tom Query carries a high volume of traffic that will then be funneled through a small neighborhood street," Rocle said, describing narrow streets, on-street parking and close driveways in the Bridgepoint development. Rocle asked the board what traffic studies have been done since February 2018 to quantify cars likely to cut through from Tom Quarry into Bridgepoint and warned that increasing neighborhood speed limits from 20 to 30 can raise the likelihood of severe accidents.
Rocle said he and his wife moved to Harrisburg more than eight years ago because of the town's family focus and described about 800 Bridgepoint residents who would be affected by increased cut-through traffic. The chair thanked Rocle for his comments; no staff study or immediate action on the item was recorded in the meeting transcript.
