City staff recommended that the source of matching funds, if the grant is awarded, come from the city’s fund balance or from the recreation department reserve; the council does not need to commit those funds until the award is confirmed. The application is due in mid‑November and awards are expected in January. Council approved the resolution to support and allocate funds if the grant is received by a 6‑0 vote.
Council members noted the project aligns with the Parks and Recreation master plan and MPO trail plans; staff said it would coordinate further details if the grant is awarded.
