Council confirms several board appointments, reappoints Kim Carson to High Valley Transit board
Summary

At the meeting the Summit County Council approved a package of appointments and reappointments. The interim county manager recommended Alyssa Van Wee to replace Doug Evans on the Summit County Board of Health; council moved, seconded and approved advice and consent for Van Wee's appointment (term 03/01/2023 through 12/31/2026 as stated). Staff said Van Wee works with the FDA and brings food-safety expertise.
The council also approved reappointment of Sarah Jo Dickens to the Summit County Weed Control Board; staff noted Dickens' past service and a state grant role focused on noxious weeds.
For the Restaurant Tax Advisory Board, the council reappointed Jody Rogers, Maureen Dunn, Billy DeMond and Helena Sideris (terms expiring July 31, 2025) and acknowledged Beth Rossi as an appointment originating from the Park City Restaurant Association.
Earlier in the meeting the council interviewed two candidates for the High Valley Transit District Board of Trustees. Sam Rubin, who identified himself as the owner of 4 Seasons Concierge Transportation, described business experience and said he would recuse himself from bidding or contracting decisions that posed a conflict. Kim Carson, an incumbent, reviewed her prior county service, role on a joint transportation advisory board, and leadership in building the new transit district; she emphasized ongoing work to build a facility, acquire rolling stock and pursue grant funding. The council moved and unanimously approved reappointment of Kim Carson for a term through 12/31/2027.
