Jessica (Jess) Kirby presented a request for a council letter of support for a Land and Water Conservation Fund application for roughly 320 acres of the Your Ranch western portion, known to staff as the Western Hills. Kirby said the county is requesting $2,500,000 to preserve and manage the parcel.
"We're requesting 2,500,000, for 320 acres, of the western portion of the ranch," Kirby told the council. Councilmember Tanya moved and Chris seconded a motion to approve the letter of support as contained in the packet; the council voted 'aye' and the motion carried.
Kirby said staff would finish application materials and submit by the deadline. The action was purely the council’s approval of a support letter; any grant award and subsequent conservation actions would follow separate processes if funding is secured.
