Utah Division of Wildlife Resources gives Summit County $6,185 in PILT funds

Blair Stringham, North Region Supervisor for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, presented a payment in lieu of taxes (PILT) of $6,185 to the Summit County Council on March 4, saying the amount is funded largely by hunting and angling license revenue.
Stringham told the council the division manages about 20,000 acres in Summit County, including the Henifer Echo Wildlife Management Area, East Canyon and Camas WMAs, and that those lands are managed primarily for big-game winter range and for public fishing and hunting access. “We have around 20,000 acres here in Summit County,” Stringham said, and the payment “is what we send to the counties each year for the properties that we hold in your county.”
The council thanked the division for the partnership and the contribution. The presentation was a ceremonial acknowledgment of annual PILT support rather than a policy action; no vote was required.
