Council approves several routine items including appointment, annexation and a franchise renewal; moves into closed session on litigation

At its June 26 meeting the Summit County Council handled several consent and action items:
- Appointment: Council consented to appoint Peter Barnes as the new Community Development Director; Barnes will begin an immediate transition as the incumbent retires August 1. The council voted aye on the consent motion.
- Annexation (Resolution 2024‑09): Council approved a resolution of intent to annex territory into Summit County Service Area 6 covering parcels in the Silver Creek Commerce Center, Park City Business Center and Park City Tech Center subdivisions. The motion passed unanimously.
- Franchise renewal: Council approved a renewal franchise agreement with All West Communications. The agreement mirrors the updated Comcast franchise in substance except it omits an access-capital grant provision and increases the temporary-relocation allowance to 60 days.
- Other motions: The board moved to convene as the governing board of the Snyderville Basin Special Recreation District for consideration of Basin‑Rec items and then reconvened as the county council. At the meeting’s close, members moved, seconded and voted to recess to a closed session for litigation matters.
