Key updates included an active rewrite of the Eastern Summit County general plan with weekly working-group meetings and public open houses; ongoing coordination on the I-80 Kimbell Junction EIS and regional transit planning; and a major $40 million Forest Legacy grant to acquire the 910 Ranch with baseline assessments and stewardship planning underway. Staff also highlighted the electron solar farm ribbon cutting (panels already generating power to county operations) and a public-art procurement for roundabout installations scheduled for 2025 with planned school engagement.
Public works and landfill staff reported ongoing site work for a delayed new landfill cell, expanded recycling efforts and a road program. The work-plan presentation noted the peak-performance initiative (a lean process improvement effort) aimed at increasing efficiency before the 2025 budget cycle. Council members favored receiving the work-plan update as a written council communication in the packet, paired with occasional in-person presentations for major topics.
