The fire chief explained Lexipol provides standard, industry-informed policy templates that the department adapts and that the district’s subcommittee plus the ACB reviewed. Examples highlighted by the chief included aircraft operations guidance, tactical withdrawal protocols, and an atmospheric-monitoring carbon-monoxide policy intended to standardize response and equipment use.
Council members asked whether individual policy numbers needed to be recited; the board moved and approved a single motion to adopt the package “as found in the packet.” The motion was moved and seconded on the record and carried by voice vote.
The chief also noted an internal badge issuance process and described how the policies will remain live documents to be amended and reapproved by the board as operational needs change.
