Delegates described a heavy security presence in Paris — tens of thousands of officers for the opening ceremonies — and uneven communication about street closures that disrupted local businesses. On volunteering, Paris required a minimum of 10 days of service to earn a ticket and spent roughly €1,400 per volunteer on basic costs, a model delegates said they will consider in local planning.
Presenters also described Paris’ unaccredited media center and daily theme programming as useful examples for local media activation. They urged clear, multilingual traveler communications and early coordination with transit providers to avoid the transportation and app‑routing problems Paris encountered. A Chamber‑led request for proposals for a joint 10‑year action plan was noted; proposals are due August 30 and will feed regional planning for infrastructure, sustainability, stakeholder engagement and event operations.
Council members asked about timelines and next steps; presenters said the bid committee will dissolve and an organizing committee will be formed, with details to follow. The councils were urged to continue sending representatives to observe other hosts and to coordinate with state partners on funding and policy decisions that will shape local roles ahead of 2034.
