Council approves RAP tax committee’s allocations after hearing committee rationale

The Summit County Council accepted the Recreation, Arts and Parks advisory committee’s recommendations for distributing the 2024 RAP tax pool during the Nov. 6 meeting.
Committee representatives said the 02/2024 application round produced 22 applications (19 eligible after legal review) requesting roughly $2.89 million against available RAP funds of about $1.586 million. After interviews and deliberation, the committee recommended allocating the entire fund among the four regions: North Summit (13% / ~$201,000), South Summit (23% / ~$364,153), Park City (27% / ~$427,092) and Snyderville Basin (37% / ~$1,358,000). Several large applications were partially funded or not funded to allow allocation across the county; applicants were asked to rank priorities if full funding was not available.
A council member noted one administrative omission in the staff report (a recusal by a committee member) and asked clarifying questions about specific requests; the committee explained its approach. Council moved to approve the committee’s recommendations and carried the motion.
