Summit County to start fall vaccination outreach; drive‑through clinics set for early October

A Summit County Health Department staff member told the board the department will emphasize October as the "prime time to start" seasonal flu and COVID vaccinations but will begin administering vaccines now for people who need them earlier for school, travel or to protect immunocompromised household members. "October is the prime time to start," the staff member said.
Staff announced three drive‑through clinics intended as a predictable seasonal kickoff: Oct. 1 in Camas, Oct. 2 in Colville and a Park City clinic at the Silver King parking lot at Park City Mountain Resort (each 11 a.m.–6 p.m.). The department expects flu and COVID vaccines to be available at those clinics and said many county pharmacies will also carry vaccines. The county will carry Moderna for COVID; staff noted Pfizer and Novavax are available through other providers and the department will refer residents as needed.
On payment and eligibility, staff said vaccines are available for people 6 months and older. Children who are uninsured can receive free vaccines through state programs (VFC/AFB). For uninsured adults, staff estimated the cash price for a COVID vaccine at about $123 pending the department’s confirmation when shipments arrive; the department said it is working with state partners to secure additional funding to make adult vaccines free for uninsured residents again.
Staff described the department’s outreach plan—social media, flyers, a video and electronic signage—to encourage walk‑up and appointment uptake; an online dashboard with vaccine guidance and clinic lists will be updated as details are confirmed.
