The committee plans a 15‑month calendar from April 19, 2025, through July 4, 2026, that will include colonial‑era music, reenactments, school programs, a Sudbury 250 day and a proposed drone light show timed with the July Fourth parade.
Chair Rada (Sudbury 250) reported results of a July flash‑vote survey that drew 646 responses and indicated strong interest in both participating in a local Sudbury celebration and attending larger regional events in Concord and nearby towns. The committee described outreach to schools, the library and Lincoln‑Sudbury High School and said it will aim to include historically under‑represented stories in the programming.
The committee asked the Select Board to preserve a provisional $25,000 ARPA allocation the board set aside earlier this year; that allocation can now benefit from new U.S. Treasury guidance that makes inter‑municipal obligations simpler. The committee said it will pursue MA 250 grants and other funding but asked the board for flexibility with the ARPA funds to allow contracting and reservation of vendors into next year.
Board members encouraged close coordination with schools, cultural councils and the larger Massachusetts 250 planning body. The town manager and Select Board agreed to work with the committee and counsel to structure any ARPA contract that preserves the allocation while meeting federal obligations.
What's next: Sudbury 250 will finalize cost estimates, continue grant applications for MA 250 funding, and run outreach activities this fall (booth at a local colonial fair was scheduled by the committee). The Select Board agreed to help with publicity and consider a contract mechanism for the ARPA allocation if needed.
