DeKalb board honors three retiring trustees after business session

Turner (10 years) and Anna Hill (four years). The event featured short video tributes, proclamations from county leaders and remarks by Superintendent Devon Q. Horton.
Each honoree received a plaque recognizing service to the school district and its students. County CEO Michael Thurman presented proclamations on behalf of DeKalb County, and Pastor Lee May offered brief remarks. Trustees, staff and community members praised the retirees for their years of service, noted specific accomplishments (audit oversight work, teacher-residency support, community partnerships) and expressed personal gratitude.
Dr. Morley used her remarks to reflect on the challenges and rewards of public service, repeatedly emphasizing her guiding question for the board: "How are the children?" The celebration closed with photos and a reception for attendees.
The board’s formal business and the ceremony were conducted in the same meeting day; trustees who were voted out or stepping off the dais received unanimous recognition and personal tributes.
