One community organization, the Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, described a ‘Rock the Vote’ partnership and the chapter’s grant to the district to support student transportation for civic activities. Several speakers thanked the district for teacher residency and recruitment programs but urged the board to ensure newly hired teachers are certified and supported.
After public comment the board held a long ceremony to honor three departing members — Dr. Joyce Morley, Vicky B. Turner and Anna Hill — with video tributes, speeches and proclamations recognizing their combined service to the district.
