HR staff said about 30 candidates are starting a para‑to‑teacher pipeline in January and that the district is recruiting for cohort 3 of the residency program. Board members praised the placements as a significant reduction in vacancy pressure while asking for clarity on how many assigned instructors are fully certified versus provisional.
"We have 65 teacher vacancies," HR presentation lead Davis Mills said during the HR report. Several board members underscored that long‑term classroom coverage matters as much as headline vacancy counts; Dr. Joyce Morley and others pressed for counts of fully certified teachers versus provisional assignments.
