Sudbury task force reviews Bruce Freeman Rail Trail punch list, approves support letter for engineering award

Members of the Town of Sudbury Rail Trail Task Force met to review construction punch-list items on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, discuss access and parking concerns near Ty Sales and Parkinson Field, and unanimously approved a letter supporting the trail engineer—s award application.

The meeting opened with the chair praising the trail—s local use and noting heavy weekend traffic. Marsha, the task force staff lead, presented the punch list and accompanying site photographs showing several construction defects: missing asphalt connections at crossings, uneven transitions and raised lips at curb ramps, piled rock swales that need grading, sections with large clumps of reclaimed asphalt, unstable guardrail posts and areas where planted shrubs have died and will be replaced under warranty. "There were just a lot of pictures," Marsha said while summarizing the contractor—s outstanding items, and she said MassDOT—s engineering division is reviewing the list.
