Council member David (speaker) said having applications in the packet three days ahead gives residents time to prepare public comment; planning commissioner Jean Wilson suggested removing private contact information before publication but making background and qualifications available. Town staff confirmed all appointees complete the required application and that staff will redact private information (such as personal phone numbers or email addresses) before posting the packet online.
Council emphasized that including applications does not remove a council member's authority to appoint; rather it creates a public record and an opportunity for informed comment prior to appointing decisions. Staff will update the packet process and make the redaction procedure explicit when returning to council.
