Plano ISD board adopts resolutions honoring Fred N. Moses and designating National School Counseling Week

Resolution honoring Fred N. Moses
Trustee Angela Powell moved adoption of a resolution recognizing Fred N. Moses (1949–2025) for four decades of philanthropy and service, including his tenure on the Collin College Board of Trustees and co‑founding the Plano Community Forum. Trustee Jerry Chambers seconded the motion. Board members offered brief remarks about Moses’ community contributions and the motion passed by voice vote, recorded as seven to zero in favor.
Resolution designating National School Counseling Week
Earlier in the meeting Deputy Superintendent Lisa Wilson introduced members of the district counseling services team and Board Secretary Tara Lance read the draft resolution. Trustee Jerry Chambers moved adoption and Secretary Lance seconded; the board voted unanimously (count 7) to adopt the resolution and President Nancy Humphrey and Vice President Dr. Lauren Tyra presented ceremonial copies to counseling staff during the program portion of the meeting.
Why this matters
Ceremonial resolutions are the board’s means of publicly recognizing individuals and professional roles that contribute to district goals. The counseling‑week designation aligns with a national observance promoted by the American School Counselor Association; the board said they will observe the week with appropriate campus activities.
