Wichita Falls ISD outlines targeted improvement plans for four campuses under federal accountability

Speaker 2 explained that TEA’s federal accountability component focuses on 'Closing the Gaps' and that TEA selects focus student groups (all students, high‑focus groups and two lowest ethnic groups) based on prior performance.
Speaker 2 said the federal plans in this round focus on math and listed required activities that include the Effective Schools Framework diagnostic, stakeholder surveys, campus improvement planning, FLIPS training for campus and district leadership, and TEA monitoring of artifacts of progress. Site visits were already scheduled at Hershey Middle School and Booker T. Washington.
The presenter noted the district has piloted Eureka Math on selected campuses (to transition to Bluebonnet) and that mid‑year MAP/NWEA results are available but not yet conclusive; STAAR results remain the primary measure. Speaker 2 offered to return in March with mid‑year assessment data to provide more detail on progress.
What’s next: the administration will submit board‑approved Targeted Improvement Plans and continue training and monitoring activities with TEA oversight. The district also anticipates a June check‑in with TEA on progress and artifact submission.
