The office encouraged residents and businesses to register cameras, explaining the town’s system maps do not provide access to private feeds but can speed investigative follow-up.
The Fire District reported monthly response numbers and cautioned residents about winter fire risks, urging fireplace cleaning and safer ash disposal. Fire staff recommended letting ashes cool for 96 hours before disposal and avoiding placing hot ashes in paper bags or near combustible materials.
Community organizations also reported: the Chamber said its Loomis Basin Christmas basket fundraiser raised $15,000 for local families, and the UC Master Gardeners recounted increased public visits to the demonstration garden, a new solar-powered water feature built with local help and a seed swap scheduled for Jan. 25 at the Loomis Veterans Hall.
Council members discussed traffic at Del Oro High School pickup and potential technology upgrades for public-safety cameras at the train depot. Staff indicated they would consider educational outreach and possible future presentations to explain camera systems and regional programs to businesses and residents.
